Do you know the media?

You know — the guys who sniff that bloggers couldn't possibly meet the standards they have to abide by — the guys who sniff at "a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing what he thinks."

Well, here's the quality of their work. When they get a hot tip from an "insurgent" website that a US soldier has been taken hostage and will soon be beheaded, they rush to publish it. After all, it couldn't possibly be a hoax, could it? Surely, they've done their normal vetting of the sources — always get confirmation from a second source — never print anything that hasn't been confirmed, adhere to the same high standards they always have.
