Will the Senate think about this?

On page 18 of the Senate's report, section (U) points out the intelligence communities (IC) "group think" problem was caused, in part by the shock that accompanied finding out the extent of iraq's weapons programs after the Gulf War and also by the criticism they received for not "connecting the dots" before 9/11. According to the report this predisposed the IC to see any information about Iraq as indicative of even more. I wonder what they think their scathing report will do?

I can't help but wonder if the IC will become even more cautious than they have been in the face of this report and if that won't have the opposite effect of what we want. In the cry for more "cetainty" in intelligence before committing the nation to action, isn't there the danger of more timidness as well? It seems almost as if the Senate is setting up the IC for even more failures in the future.

There are some negatives to our political system. This is certainly one of them. In the rush to make political points, the truth sometimes is the loser. And ultimately the American people can be as well.
