What does the news media not report?

Darn near everything, apparently. The lastest news from Iraq is about a car bomb that killed 14 people link and an attack that killed seven Iraqi troops link. But you won't be reading the following anywhere in the major media outlets. It's just not news, apparently.

Iranian troops have been firing on Iraqi troops on the southern border, near Basra, and on the northern border, near Shehan.

Iraqi security forces in Sulaimaniya killed a suicide bomber before he could blow his car up. link (Warning - graphic photos of a dead teen-aged terrorist)

ICDC troops in Diyala killed a Syrian homicide bomber before he could reach their headquarters. One civilian died in the blast.

Explosive experts in the Iraqi Police disarmed two bombs in Bahgdad, one in Al Dawoody and the other near the Brazilian embassy in Al Mansour.

Iraqi Police found a huge weapons cache in a farm near Kut, loaded it onto some trucks and hauled it away.

All this information comes from Iraq the Model, a blog. The writers gleaned the stories from various Iraqi sources.

Gee, do you think, if you were reading stories like this every day, you might have some hope for the future of Iraq? That you might actually think that the Iraqis can take care of themselves? Paul Bremer seems to think so - link.
