Major frustration

Things like this frustrate me to no end. I don't understand why we can't just find these guys and take them out. I understand we want to fight a "kinder, gentler" sort of war, but dammit, it costs us lives. With all the technology we have, the drones flying over the city, 24/7 patrols, you'd think we'd be able to see this coming or at least catch the bastards setting up their mortars and just waste them all.

The Iraqis are paying an awful price with all the murders, car bombings and drive-by assassinations. It sure seems that sooner or later, their fellow citizens would start turning these guys in. I guess the fear of the Ba'athists still keeps many of them from coming forward.

UPDATE: At least thirteen dead and 50 wounded in the attack.

UPDATE 2: 24 dead, 19 of them US military and 64 injured. A very bad day for our troops.

UPDATE 3: Cori Dauber has an excellent analysis of the biased press coverage of this event.

UPDATE 4: After the wounded began to be evac'd, the bastards mortared the hospital. I hope we kill every last one of them.

UPDATE 5: Wretchard points out the complicity of the media and the liberal elites in the mortar attack. "Enemy mortar teams lying in wait to attack doctors are one aspect of a coin which features the blind eye of some media and 'progressive' institutions on the other." It's past high time for Americans to call these jerks out. They deliberately ignore blatant war crimes and glorify the enemy in a supposed desire to be "fair". Instead they are treasonous, and we should call them that, loudly and clearly until they can no longer live freely in this country without bearing the scarlet letter of treasonous shame.
