If at first you don't succeed
The Democrats, with the willing help of their media accomplices, have been trying to hard to convince young people that the draft is coming. It hasn't been working, but that doesn't stop the New York Times from trying. Since the "regular" draft story has died an ignominious death, the Times is now trying to terrify people with a medical draft.
The headline - U.S. Has Contingency Plans for a Draft of Medical Workers.
The story?
Richard S. Flahavan, a spokesman for the Selective Service System, said Monday: "We have been routinely updating the entire plan for a health care draft. The plan is on the shelf and will remain there unless Congress and the president decide that it's needed and direct us to carry it out."Right!
The Selective Service does not decide whether a draft will occur. It would carry out the mechanics only if the president and Congress authorized a draft.
The chief Pentagon spokesman, Lawrence T. Di Rita, said Monday: "It is the policy of this administration to oppose a military draft for any purpose whatsoever. A return to the draft is unthinkable. There will be no draft."
I guess the Times would prefer that the government do no contingency planning at all. Then they could berate them for not planning.
The Times is a veritable story factory, creating new products out of thin air almost daily.
