Al Sabaah reports the discovery of nuclear missiles in Iraq

The Iraqi newspaper Al Sabaah is reporting the discovery of three nuclear missiles near Tikrit. An Iraqi Interior Minister called the story "stupid", according to Reuters. Reuters also reports, "A senior U.S. military official told reporters he had no information on the report in the newspaper al-Sabah. He said officials were checking the report."

One has to wonder why Al Sabaah would print the story if there wasn't something going on. It remains to be seen if that something is nothing, but what Al Sabaah reports seem too detailed to be made up. Perhaps some missiles were discovered, but they aren't nuclear. It seems unlikely that Sadaam would have had nuclear warheads, but then everything about Iraq's WMD programs seems to be a mystery to the outside world. I for one have never believed the reports that there are no weapons. Instead, I wonder where they are now. Syria perhaps? Or Iran? Or both? There have been reports of truckloads of material going in both directions, and I haven't seen any evidence of investigations into those reports.

This should be interesting to watch. In any case, ISTM that Reuters didn't really bother to investigate at all. They questioned two people and called it a day. Why not drive up to Tikrit (it's not that far) and investigate for yourself? Or hire a trusted Iraqi to do it for you? Once again, the press shows very little inclination to do any real investigative work.

UPDATE: Sam reports that the "nuclear heads" are "under investigation". It appears the other elements of the story (reinforced concrete bunker, underground, etc.) are potentially true
There are speculations that the arrest of the above criminal has lead to the discovery of at least three rockets which are believed to be prepared to or may carry out nuclear heads.  This speculation came due to the way these rockets were stored in a very secure reinforced concrete underground room with an exit leading to the main road.  The rockets are now under investigation.
If it is true, and if they really are nuclear, this would be a bombshell. Will the press cover the story after the Interior Ministry representative called it "stupid"? Or will they not even bother to investigate?
